Laois' Eoin Lowry scored 1-6 as UCD finished strongly to trump Dublin rivals DCU in last night's Ryan Cup final at Parnell Park.

Meath's Padraic Harnan also raised a green flag for the Belfield boys who had trailed by 0-4 to 0-6 at the end of the first quarter, with Conor McGraynor, Conor McHugh and Stephen Attride on target for the holders.

However, goals from Lowry in the 19th minute and Harnan in stoppage-time propelled UCD into a 2-9 to 0-8 lead at half-time.

Niall Kelly and Paul Mannion added points to extend UCD's lead after the restart before a brace of points from sub Ryan Lyons left six between the sides entering the final quarter.

But John Divilly's charges pulled away in the closing stages thanks to a flurry of scores from Lowry, Tommy Moolick, Mannion, James McEntee and Paul Kingston.
