An Aussie Rules-style 'mark' could be trialled in next year's Sigerson Cup.

Speaking at today's launch of the 2016 Sigerson Cup at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown, the GAA's Higher Education Committee (HEC) chairman Gerry Tully hinted that the rule - which encourages high-fielding - may be experimented in the third level competition.

A kick-out variation of the 'mark' could be introduced at all levels if a motion is passed at Congress in January. Former Armagh captain and Standing Playing Rules Committee chairman Jarlath Burns delivered a presentation of the proposed new rule at last Saturday's Central Council meeting.

At the same meeting, delegates failed to agree on a new All-Ireland football championship structure. A final decision on whether changes to the current structure will be voted on at Congress will be made at January's Central Council meeting.
