Cahir Healy never gets tired of commuting back and forth from London to line out for Portlaoise and Laois.

Distance is no obstacle for the schoolteacher who will make the all-too-familiar journey home again this weekend for Portlaoise's Leinster club SFC quarter-final against Kildare champions Sarsfields.

"The trade-off of sitting in airports all weekend to play in Leinster clubs and with your county is fair enough as far as I'm concerned," the dual star told the Irish Independent.

Healy, who nowadays focuses solely on hurling at inter-county level, was just 18 when Portlaoise reached the 2005 All-Ireland club SFC final, only to lose to Ballina Stephenites. 'The Town' have since completed a remarkable nine-in-a-row of Jack Delaney Cups in Laois, but have only added one provincial title (2009) in that time.

"There's quite an awareness that this could stop at any time so we need to make hay while we can," he continued.

"There's still six or seven of the 2005 All-Ireland club final team there and while we wouldn't be outwardly cocky, maybe the cockiness gets in on you. We lost the county final in 2005 and didn't get out of the group in 2006 so we want to seize the chance we have this year.

"It's a huge goal to get back winning Leinster and back into another All-Ireland final. When you don't win it for a couple of years it focuses the mind more."

Win, lose or draw on Sunday, Healy will be back in the air again next weekend and bound for Trim for Portlaoise's Leinster club IHC clash with Meath senior hurling champions Kiltale.
