Waiting to go back up.

Meath's opening game in the 2016 Allianz FL against Armagh may have to be moved to a Sunday as repair work on the Pairc Tailteann floodlights might not be completed in time.

The Royals are due to start their Division 2 campaign on Saturday 31 January but the floodlights and their supporting structures at the Navan ground were taken down earlier in the year after structural problems with the foundations were identified.

Infrastructure committee chairman Noel Dempsey gave an update on the situation as regards the floodlights at Pairc Tailteann at the November meeting of the County Board at Dunganny on Monday night.

"It will be tight to have them working for the first round of the National Football League," he said. The Trim clubman said he had spoken to Croke Park officials about the matter and would speak to them again.

"There has been an amount of verbal support from Croke Park and the Leinster Council but no promise of grants yet," added Dempsey.
