Aogan Farrell pays tribute to GAA man Anthony Golden

October 13, 2015

GAA President Aogan Farrell has expressed his sympathies on behalf of the Association to the family of Garda Anthony Golden who lost his life in tragic circumstances on Sunday evening last in Omeath, Co Louth.

He said: "The terrible news we received on Sunday evening touched us all and left us thinking about Garda Golden's wife, children and extended family".

"He paid the highest price possible in the service of the community he worked in and all for the protection and in the interests of others".

"Like so many members of An Garda Síochána, Anthony had a passion for Gaelic games and he played football and hurling for Ballina Stephenites / James Stephens in Mayo alongside brothers and friends".

"We echo the sympathies expressed by his club by offering our condolences to Anthony's family, wide circle of friends and colleagues in An Garda Síochána at this sad time."

Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas síoraí dá anam uasal.
