Anthony Cunningham's future as Galway senior hurling manager is to be sorted out in the coming days with reports indicating he on the verge of walking away.
As talks to find a compromise with the players stalled on Wednesday night, a local source informed the Irish Daily Star that the manager has become disillusioned with the situation.
Meanwhile, former Tribe boss John McIntyre, who is the editor of the Connacht Tribune, has cast doubt over the suggestion that the players want the manager to stay.
It had been reported that the players did not seek Cunningham's resignation but wanted changes to be made ahead of 2016.
"I don't know if the County Board are trying to put a certain spin on things," McIntyre said to Today FM.
"The players are very entrenched in their view on this. They are insistent that they need a new manager."
