Clare have secured the services of the highly-rated Mick Bohan as their new football coach.

The Clontarf man, who is a nephew of former Clare hurling boss Fr Harry Bohan, was initially skills acquisition coach with Jim Gavin's Dublin before being appointed head coach. He stepped down from the latter role at the end of last season.

Bohan also had a successful spell as manager of the Dublin ladies footballers and was part of the backroom team with the Dublin U21 teams that won All-Ireland titles in 2010 and 2012 when Jim Gavin was at the helm.

Bohan will fill the void left by Ephie Fitzgerald, who has been shortlisted for the position of Cork football manager.
