Decision on Harte's future imminent

The Tyrone footballers will find out tomorrow night if Mickey Harte is still their manager.

Question marks have hung over the three-time All-Ireland winning manager's future since the Red Hands' All-Ireland SFC semi-final defeat to Kerry last month. Harte expressed his desire to stay on for a 14th term in the immediate aftermath of that game, but a motion seeking to extend his tenure was subsequently withdrawn at a county board meeting.

The Ballygalwey's man refusal to conduct interviews with RTE, the size of his backroom team and the availability of players to their clubs are believed to have been sticking points.

Since becoming manager in 2002, Harte has always been given three-year terms, but this is the first time his contract has been allowed to expire.

According to the Irish News, a decision on Harte's future will be relayed to clubs tomorrow night following talks between the outgoing manager and a county executive delegation, headed by chairperson Roisin Jordan.
