It's the first Sunday of September and that can only mean one thing - the All-Ireland senior and minor hurling finals at Croke Park!
Perennial finalists and Liam MacCarthy Cup holders Kilkenny met Galway in the 2015 SHC decider - a fascinating repeat of this year's Leinster final.
The westerners were bidding for a double today as they were also involved in the curtain-raiser against Tipperary. The Premier County, meanwhile, were themselves on course for an astonishing minor hurling / football double.
Something was going to have to give on a historic afternoon of hurling at GAA headquarters.
