Tyrone will be without Joe McMahon for their All-Ireland SFC semi-final showdown with Kerry on Sunday week.

Manager Mickey Harte confirmed that the two-time All-Ireland winner is expected to undergo surgery to correct a hernia problem this weekend.

"The surgery is supposed to be done this weekend, but how it leaves him afterwards we'll have to wait and see. I can't see him being a starter at this point in time," the Red Hands boss stated.

Harte revealed McMahon's status during yesterday's press night and also confirmed that attacker Tiernan McCann will be appealing the eight-week suspension handed down to him by the Central Competitions Control Committee on Tuesday.
