Man of the match Sean Cavanagh cut a contented figure after Tyrone comfortably saw off Sligo to book their place in the All-Ireland quarter-finals.

The former Footballer of the Year, who has now won an incredible 24 All-Ireland qualifiers in 77 championship appearances, told Sky Sports: "It's a big win. We've been easing our way through the qualifiers the last three or four rounds and once you get to Croke Park you really want to kick on.

"Today's game we knew that Sligo were on the back of a bad result against Mayo and they weren't going to be easy."

Cavanagh added: "We were expecting a backlash, and that's what we got. We probably aren't that happy with our defensive play there today, but you have to give Sligo credit, they have some top quality forwards.

"Some of their forwards would grace any team in Ireland and it's a matter of job done (for Tyrone)."
