A big question mark hangs over Brian Cuthbert's future as Cork senior football manager.

Tonight's 1-13 to 1-21 Round 4A qualifier defeat to Kildare brings the curtain down on the two year term he was handed by the Cork County Board back in October 2013.

The primary school principal from Bishopstown had guided the Rebels to Munster minor success in 2010 and served as a member of Conor Counihan's backroom team before taking on the senior job.

Assisted by selectors Owen Sexton, Ciaran O'Sullivan, Don Davis and Ronan McCarthy, Kerry proved to be the rock on which his Munster championship aspirations perished in both years.

Last year Mayo showed the Rebels the exit door at the All-Ireland SFC quarter-final stage while this evening's loss means Cuthbert's position will come in for close scrutiny in the weeks ahead.

The 1993 All-Ireland winning minor captain had no comment to make on his future after the final whistle.
