Leinster Council chairman John Horan has expressed his disappointment at claims that the Galway hurlers are getting a raw deal from the provincial body.

The Westerners are unhappy about not being granted home games in the Leinster SHC and the refusal to allow their minor and U21 teams to play in Leinster, and have made this known in a submission to Croke Park on All-Ireland structures.

Horan admitted to the Irish Independent that Leinster Council is "surprised and disappointed" at the Tribesmen's stance.

"We met with Galway county board officers some weeks ago and they outlined their position, especially in the area of finance and coaching," he said.

"Shane Flanagan (Leinster Games Development Manager) and John Browne (Finance Manager) were looking into that so we were surprised to read that Galway had raised concerns with Croke Park as part of a submission on the championship.

"As far as we were concerned, things were ongoing so it's a bit unfortunate to have it thrashed out in public."

Horan also refuted claims that Galway are not getting their fair share of the financial pie.

"Leinster pays Galway a special grant of €20,000 per year, which no other county gets. We're open to talk to them, but I don't think it's fair to say that they are not getting proper treatment," he added.
