Mayo's strength and conditioning coach Barry Solan is set to join Premier League soccer giants Arsenal.

The Ballaghaderreen clubman - who previously worked with the Poland international team and the Laois and Kildare footballers - will join Arsene Wenger's Gunners as S&C coach.

Solan - who will in fact be Arsenal's first strength and conditioning coach - will take up his position at The Emirates, where fellow Irishman Gary O'Driscoll is club doctor, once the current GAA season is over.

And he won't have to give up his role with the Mayo senior footballers as the North London club are apparently prepared to allow him to combine both positions.
