This is a lovely gesture.

Following their historic Leinster SFC semi-final victory over Meath at Croke Park this afternoon, Westmeath are en route back to the midlands and their first port of call will be Denis Coyne's pub in Kinnegad.

Denis was chairman of the Westmeath football board when the Delaney Cup made its only visit to the county in 2004, but sadly he didn't live to see his beloved Lake County beat their near-neighbours in championship football, having passed away earlier this year.

No doubt he is smiling down this evening as Westmeath celebrates that long-awaited victory over the Royals.
