Michael was a Leitrim star in the '60s
June 11, 2015Former Leitrim footballer Michael Martin has passed away.
The Ballinamore man was one of the stars of the great Sean O'Heslin's side of the 1960s and '70s, winning six county SFCs during a brilliant eight-year purple patch.
He also impresssed in the colours of his county and was on the Leitrim side that squared up to Mayo in the 1967 Connacht final, partnering Aughavas' Terry Blessing at midfield.
He was captain for the 1973 Leitrim SFC success and collected his other club championship medals in '67, '68, '69, '72 and '75.
