Fermanagh's Dominic Corrigan is the new Cavan Gaels manager.

The former Fermanagh and Sligo manager has been parachuted into the role after Kieran Donnelly stepped down after a difficult start to the season for the reigning Cavan SFC holders. Donnelly had only been in the job a few months after replacing Peter Canavan at the start of the year.

Kinawley man Corrigan is one of the most respected coaches in Ulster, having enjoyed great success in the MacRory Cup with St. Michael's, Enniskillen over the years. He was in charge of Clontibret when they won the Monaghan SFC title last year, and also achieved similar success with Carrickmore in Tyrone prior to that.

"We were delighted to get Dominic, especially at this time of year when there are not many individuals available," Cavan Gaels chairman Michael Mooney told the Anglo-Celt website.

"We met with him and had a chat with him and we were really happy when he was willing to take over."
