There were just two championship games down for this decision over the weekend, here's our football team of the week ...

1. Graham Brody (Laois)

Kept a goal bound effort from Tommy Moolick out with a smart save late on in Tullamore.

2. Luke Howard (Down)

Despite picking up a yellow card early on, came out on top in his personal duel against Benny Heron.

3. Dermot McBride (Derry)

Tasked the with the job of policing Donal O'Hare, he kept up his end of the bargain.

4. Ollie Lyons (Kildare)

The tenacious defender kept Ross Munnelly on a tight leash, holding the Laois captain scoreless from play.

5. Robbie Kehoe (Laois)

Kehoe and his Laois team-mates will have been disappointed to let victory slip from their grasp but it's still all to play for.

6. Darren Strong (Laois)

The centre half-back used his experience to telling effect against the Lilywhites and roamed forward to pop over two valuable points.

7. Emmet Bolton (Kildare)

Bolton was very much to the fore as Kildare dug themselves out of the hole they found themselves in against Laois.

8. Fergal Doherty (Derry)

Was the dominant midfielder on view in Celtic Park, gaining more than his fair share of primary possession.

9. John O'Loughlin (Laois)

Kildare struggled compete with the all-action O'Moore County midfielder who raised two white flags for Tomas Ó Flatharta's side.

10. Conor Laverty (Down)

Was kept quiet in the first-half but, given a license to roam, his finger prints were all over the Mourne County's improved second-half showing.

11. Mark Lynch (Derry)

Kicked three top class points from play in the first-half but the Oak Leaf captain wasn't as prominent after the resumption.

12. Kevin McKernan (Down)

Took the fight to Derry right from the throw-in but, unfortunately from the Mourne County's perspective, received little support from his team-mates in the opening 35 minutes.

13. Eoin Bradley (Derry)

Marked his return to the inter-county championship scene with the pointed free which sealed Derry's passage to the last four of the Anglo Celt Cup race.

14. Donie Kingston (Laois)

Kingston's physical presence was a key weapon in Laois' attacking arsenal and he helped himself to five points from frees and three from play.

15. Alan Smith (Kildare)

The Sarsfields clubman posed plenty of questions for the Laois defence and he sent over two points.
