Flynn quits Lilies

Kildare's Daniel Flynn.

In yet another blow to their championship chances, Daniel Flynn has quit the Kildare panel to travel to the US for the summer.

Following hot on the heels of Keith Cribbin's cruciate ligament injury, Lilywhites selector Morgan O'Callaghan confirmed to The Irish Independent that Flynn, who has been struggling with an injury since the end of the league, had informed management of his travel plans in recent days.

"He hadn't trained fully with us since the Galway game and probably wouldn't have been with us against Laois.

"But in the long term he is a loss to us."

Since their relegation to Division 3, Kildare have also lost the services of Tomas O'Connor who withdrew from the squad due to a lack of game time.

They are due to face neighbours Laois in the Leinster SFC quarter-final on Saturday, June 6th in Tullamore.
