A Dublin-based marketing expert believes Henry Shefflin has "huge earning potential" both as a media pundit and as a brand ambassador.
Former Dublin and Kilmacud Crokes footballer Mick O'Keeffe of PSG Communications reckons Shefflin is the perfect fit for TV work and for fronting companies' products. The recently-retired 10-time All-Ireland winning hurler revealed earlier this week that he is in talks with both RTE and Sky about becoming a hurling analyst.
"From a marketing perspective, he has never over-exposed himself and picks his brands carefully," O'Keeffe told the Irish Examiner.
"He has huge potential to remain as a brand ambassador due to his status.
"He will undoubtedly become a media pundit and will continue in his role with Bank of Ireland where he does hugely important work for the company. Shefflin is also a sports personality that appeals to non-hurling fans and people from all walks of life.
"Unusually for a hurler, he is instantly recognisable, due mainly to his work for brands and media appearances as well as the many iconic on-field celebrations pictures. His earning potential is huge and rightly so. He will not fade over time and, like Brian O'Driscoll, he will remain a national sporting star long after retirement."
