Jimmy Barry-Murphy is hoping Conor O'Sullivan will have a change of heart and return to the Cork hurling panel.

The Sarsfields defender quit the panel last week and Barry-Murphy admitted in the Irish Daily Star: "I was disappointed. We felt Conor still had a huge part to play.

"I just hope in time he will come back into the scene because I feel he has a lot to offer. We are very disappointed to see him going. He just felt he wasn't enjoying it any more."

The Cork manager, who is preparing his side for next Sunday's Allianz League final against Waterford, also ruled out the prospect of William Egan returning to the fold.

"I sounded out the situation with William, he didn't feel he was in a position to come back and be part of the panel," he explained.

"He felt he had missed too much of the year and he didn't feel he was ready to be part of the panel going forward."
