Clare's Brendan Bugler has failed at the second attempt to get the red card he was shown during the HL Division 1A win over Dublin rescinded.

Referee Cathal McAllister issued the former All Star with his marching orders for 'attempting to kick with minimal force' on the stroke of half-time in the Banner County's 2-22 to 2-20 victory at Ennis.

The player subsequently appealed his sending-off to the Central Hearings Committee but they upheld the referee's decision and he was handed a two match suspension

He refused to accept that, however, and went a step further to the Central Appeals Committee who met last night.

A statement just released by the CAC reads: 'The Appeal from Brendan Bugler against a decision of the CHC was heard by the CAC last evening.

'Having heard and considered all submissions and evidence of witnesses on behalf of the Appellant and the Decision Maker, the CAC upheld the decision of the CHC and rejected the Appeal.'

That means Bugler will have to sit out Sunday's crucial relegation play-off clash against Kilkenny.
