Sligo's former All Star defender Charlie Harrison is the latest player to be struck down by the cruciate ligament curse.

The St John's clubman suffered the season ending injury in training two weeks ago and a scan confirmed the player's worst fears.

A regular on the Yeats County panel since making his debut against London in 2004, the experienced Harrison won a Connacht championship medal in 2007 and three years later became just the fourth Sligo player to receive All Star recognition.

He joins a list that already includes footballers Eoghan O'Gara (Dublin) and Paraic Sullivan (Offaly) and hurlers Colin Forde (Galway) and Christopher Joyce (Cork) who will sit out the entire year.
