Antrim captain Neil McManus has acknowledged some of the young hurlers who came in and impressed for the Glensmen against Offaly on Sunday.

Manager Kevin Ryan fielded a somewhat experimental side for the clash with the quarter-final-bound Faithful County at Ballycastle and McManus believes the impressive displays of some of the fringe players as the hosts went down fighting will boost the squad ahead of this weekend's relegation showdown against Laois:

"Ryan McCambridge from Cushendall, a young lad hurling at centre half back, might have struggled a little bit and then went into corner back and was outstanding," McManus notes in The Belfast Telegraph.

"Michael Bradley came out to midfield for the second half, I thought Paul Shiels was super at centre half back after he was moved. Up front, some of the young lads like Conor Johnson who has had very little gametime showed well.

"The performance puts a positive outlook on our whole panel and on our mental state. I think we have definitely done that. We have got what we wanted out of this game."
