Roscommon CBS were crowned Connacht PP Schools SF 'A' champions in Carrick-on-Shannon today after edging out Summerhill College.

Richard Hughes and Noel Gately were the scoring heroes for the winners who were appearing in their first final since 1998 and who avenged their league final defeat to the Sligo school with a hard-fought win. Hughes kicked the Roscommon school's first three scores before Summerhill levelled through Cian Lally. Gately edged the charges of Willie Hegarty and Seamus Heneghan back in front, only for Nathan Rooney to leave it all-square at 0-4 each at the break.

Gatley put the winners back in front 13 minutes into the second period before doubling their lead. Summerhill rallied with scores from Kyle Cawley and captain Darragh Cummins to reduce the deficit to the minimum.

Gately and Cummins (free) traded late points as the Rossies held on for the win.
