There was no shortage of surprise results in the football leagues over the weekend, here's our team of the week ...

1. Stephen Kane (Down)

Down staged a late comeback to deny Galway the Division 2 spoils and their goalkeeper played a big part in the victory with a couple of point-blank saves.

2. Tom Cunniffe (Mayo)

The Connacht champions survived a tough test against hosts Derry in Celtic Park and corner-back Cunniffe was one of their stand-out performers.

3. Drew Wylie (Monaghan)

The Farney full-back and his defensive colleagues restricted Donegal to just a goal from play in yesterday's low-scoring encounter in Letterkenny.

4. Mick O'Grady (Kildare)

Some much needed respite for the Lilywhites as they got off the mark at the fourth attempt in Division 2 to boost their survival prospects.

5. Kieran Butler (Wexford)

The Geraldine O'Hanrahans clubman put in a solid shift as Wexford registered their first win in Division 3 at the expense of fellow strugglers Limerick in Innovate Wexford Park.

6. Michael Shields (Cork)

The experienced defender was very much to the fore as the Rebels gained a small measure of revenge for last year's Munster final humiliation at the hands of their arch enemy.

7. Peter Harte (Tyrone)

Harte's dedication to the Red Hand cause can't be questioned as he produced another all-action performance in the half-back line at Croke Park.

8. Padraig McNulty (Tyrone)

The emergence of McNulty has been a real plus for Tyrone so far this year and the Dungannon man gave as good as got against the Dubs.

9. John O'Loughlin (Laois)

The O'Moore County's struggles in Division 2 have been well documented but in O'Loughlin and Brendan Quigley they boast a formidable midfield pairing.

10. Graham Reilly (Meath)

The Royal half-forward put Westmeath to the sword with 1-5 from play and his goal was worth the admission price to Pairc Tailteann alone as he chipped Gary Connaughton.

11. Mark Collins (Cork)

Although named at full-forward, the reliable Collins operated mostly around the midfield third of the field to good effect against the Kingdom.

12. Dean Rock (Dublin)

The Ballymun man came to his side's rescue when fisting the equalising goal past Niall Morgan and also contributed six points to their final tally.

13. David Kelly (Sligo)

Kelly helped himself to 1-5 as the Yeats County sent Louth home with their tails between their legs following 17 point Division 3 defeat.

14. Ethan Rafferty (Armagh)

The two top teams in Division 3 shared the spoils in the Athletic Grounds and full-forward Ethan Rafferty finished as his team's top scorer with five points.

15. Francis McGee (Longford)

Longford were pushed all the way by Waterford at Pearse Park but McGee's contribution of 1-4 proved vital for Jack Sheedy's charges.
