Convery expecting different Westmeath

Ruairi Convery says Derry are bracing themselves for a much sterner test than the one they received from Westmeath in last year's Allianz Hurling League.

The Oak Leafers registered a shock 3-11 to 0-8 victory in Mullingar 12 months ago - a result which plunged the Lake County into crisis and left their former manager Brian Hanley under pressure for the remainder of the season.

"We went down to Westmeath last year and we probably weren't expecting to get a result," Convery admitted to the Irish News ahead of tomorrow's Division 2A clash at Owenbeg.

"That is something they will probably be thinking about. They will be looking to come up the road and take a scalp off us this year.

"They got a good result against London last week. We are under no illusions. It's going to be another tough game."
