Derry captain Mark Lynch's appeal against his sending off against Kerry has failed.

Lynch will now miss the local derby clash with Tyrone in Omagh next weekend. Derry were hopeful of having the one-match ban overturned after the captain was controversially red-carded by referee Joe McQuillan in the 50th minute of the Oak Leaf County's 0-13 to 1-17 loss to the All-Ireland champions at Celtic Park on February 8 last.

Mayo midfielder Aidan O'Shea's appeal against the black card he received for a challenge of Tyrone goalkeeper Niall Morgan on the same date has also been upheld by the GAA authorities.
