Dublin manager Jim Gavin wasn't surprised by the physical nature of last night's Division 1 contest against Donegal and praised his side's discipline.
Substitute Jack McCaffrey's late goal was the key moment in their 2-10 to 0-11 victory at GAA headquarters and Gavin was pleased that his team secured the two points despite losing Kevin McManamon to a red card in the 45th minute.
"It was about both teams going hard at it," Gavin commented afterwards.
"They're a physical side and so are we and when two physical teams come together that's the outcome so no, I wasn't surprised at all.
"From a Dublin perspective I thought we showed very good discipline and very good shape and were in control for the game and as a result we got the performance and the two points.
"When one team playe defensive football and one team plays attacking football the two collide sometimes and that's the fall-out.
"We're very happy with how our players held their discipline and I'm satisfied with how we performed."
