Cruciate victim Clarke returns to action

Mickey Harte will be glad to hear that Conor Clarke made a successful return to the playing field yesterday.

The Red Hand full-back damaged his cruciate ligament last June but came on as a substitute in St Mary's 1-10 to 1-7 Sigerson Cup victory over NUIG.

Following their opening round defeat to Monaghan last Saturday evening, Tyrone need all the good news they can get at the minute and Clarke's availability would certainly bolster the defensive options available to Harte and his selectors.

Meanwhile, St Mary's manager Paddy Tally is looking forward to locking horns with DCU in the last eight of the college competition.

He told The Irish Independent: "Whoever we have now I don't care: it's DCU and we'll take it. We'll take DCU next week. But we'll have to improve an awful lot."
