UCD and IT Carlow are through to the quarter-finals of the 2015 Sigerson Cup after victories over Athlone IT and IT Tralee respectively this afternoon.

John Divilly's UCD were comfortable home victors over Athlone IT, prevailing by 0-15 to 0-7 in a game that threw in at 3pm. Athlone had accounted for Trinity in the preliminary round last week but today's trip to Belfield proved a bridge too far.

Playing with the wind in the first half, the winners roared into a 0-8 to 0-1 interval lead, with Westmeath captain Ger Egan notching Athlone IT's only score before the break.

Meanwhile, IT Carlow recorded a surprising 0-10 to 0-7 victory over Noel Kennelly's IT Tralee side at Tralee in the 2:45 throw-in. It was 0-4 each at the break but Carlow pushed on in the second half for a famous win.
