Roscommon comfortably defeated Galway by 2-21 to 1-11 this afternoon to claim a second successive U21F Hastings Cup title.

Played in Rathcline Co. Longford, both sides enjoyed periods of dominance in the opening half. However, Roscommon edged matters on the scoreboard at the interval - 0-10 to 1-5.

A Paul Mannion goal on 20 minutes put Galway a point ahead - 1-5 to 0-6 - but it was the only time they led as Roscommon finished strongly with points from Paul Kenny, Diarmuid McGann, Shane Killoran and Ultan Harney.

Backed by a strong wind advantage, Roscommon stepped up a gear in the second half to outscore their opponents by 2-11 to 0-6.

Noel Gately and Kieran Kilcline found the net for the winners on 33 and 50 minutes respectively.
