John Evans says it's imperative that Roscommon win their three home games in the Allianz Football League if they're to consolidate their Division 2 status.

Last year's Division 3 champions will be at home to Cavan, Meath and Galway and away to Down, Laois, Kildare and Westmeath in what promises to be a huge competitive division.

"We'll certainly need to win our home games, but it won't be easy. We have Cavan first and after what happened last year (Roscommon hammered them in last year's All-Ireland qualifiers) they will come with five kitchen sinks to throw at us. It's vital that we win that first game," the Roscommon manager said in the Irish Independent.

Before they face Cavan, the Rossies have the small matter of a FBD Connacht League final against Galway in Kiltoom on Sunday.

"We have a real test coming up on Sunday. I have huge respect for Kevin Walsh. He did a great job with Sligo and will bring new ideas to Galway. We'll need to be well-prepared for them and we are," the Kerry native added.
