An easy 4-20 to 1-12 Walsh Cup win for Dublin over DIT tonight at a wet Parnell Park.

New manager Ger Cunningham, involved in his first competitive game with the Dubs, can be reasonably pleased with his charges who were never really troubled.

The winners shot out of the traps and with Paul Ryan in fine shooting form were 0-7 to 0-1 clear after only 8 minutes.

A plucky DIT, inspired by some nice points from Derek McNicholas, enjoyed their best moments and pulled matters back to the bare minimum, 0-8 over 0-7 by the 26th minute.

But once Eamonn Dillon struck for the games opening goal there was no looking back for Cunningham's charges who went on to lead 1-11 to 0-7 at the break.

The winners second half goalscorers were Liam Rushe, Niall McMorrow and David Treacy while Michael Lee replied with a like score for the losers which at the time left matters at 1-13 to 1-8.

Dublin go on to play Antrim in the next round on Sunday.
