Armagh goalkeeper Niall Geoghegan could be set for a month on the sideline after sustaining an ankle injury in last Sunday's McKenna Cup loss to Tyrone.
The Middletown clubman, whose inter-county career has been stunted by various injury setbacks, was due to have a scan today to ascertain the extent of the damage. He was replaced by Matthew McNeice at the Athletic Grounds in what was a major blow to his hopes of ousting Philip McEvoy as the Orchard County's first choice 'keeper.
"It was very disappointing for Niall to have to leave the field against Tyrone as he had been looking forward to the game and had been anxious to see regular action," team spokesman Seán Ó Maoilsté said in the Belfast Telegraph.
"It might well be that Niall could be out until the league, but the important thing is that he makes a full recovery. He has been unfortunate with injuries but even though he has had only limited game-time, he has shown tremendous commitment to Armagh in the past and you have to admire his courage and commitment."
