Defenders Michael Cahill and James Barry are set to miss the majority of Tipperary's National Hurling League campaign.
Assistant manager Michael Ryan revealed to The Irish Independent that Barry has underwent surgery on a hip problem while Cahill is due to go under the knife this month in an effort to rectify a similar complaint.
It is hoped that Barry will be able to return to training in March but Thurles Sarsfields clubman Cahill could be forced to sit out on the entire league.
Meanwhile, new additions to Eamon O'Shea's squad for 2015 include John Meagher (Loughmore-Castleiney), Michael Breen (Ballina) and Bill Maher (Kilsheelan-Kilcash) who have all been called up from last year's extended panel.
David Butler (Drom & Inch), Loughmore-Castleiney duo Liam Treacy and John McGrath, Sean Maher (Clonoulty-Rossmore) and Joe O'Dwyer (Killenaule) will also be given the chance to prove themselves at senior inter-county level.
