Kieran McGeeney hasn't persuaded star forward Jamie Clarke to make an early return from his extended break from football.

Clarke confirmed back in August that he would be taking a time away from the game which would see him miss the early part of 2015 and although he featured in Crossmaglen's Ulster club SFC defeat to Omagh St Enda's, it looks as though he won't be around for the Orchard men's Dr McKenna Cup campaign.

Fellow club mates James Morgan and Tony Kernan, whom were both expected to feature, are also key figures omitted from the 26-man panel.

Brendan Donaghy, Stefan Forker, Kevin Dyas, Finnian Moriarty have all been included along with veteran Ciaran McKeever, who captained the team last year.

Armagh take on Tyrone in the first round of the Dr McKenna Cup on Sunday at the Athletic Grounds (throw-in 2.00pm).
