Cribbin: McGeeney one of the very best

Tom Cribbin has cited Kieran McGeeney as one of the top managers in the game.

Cribbin, who recently took the reins of Westmeath's senior footballers, worked alongside McGeeney for a season with Kildare U21s and believes that the former Armagh All-Ireland winning captain was unlucky not to make the breakthrough with the Lillywhites seniors.

"He'd be top-notch. I would consider him one of the very best - his whole approach and his commitment to everything," Cribbin told the Irish Daily Star.

"I think I learned a fair bit from him when I was with him, even though relatively he probably would be seen as not as experienced. But, when he gets his teeth into something, the research and work he puts into it - even in his off-season last year he went to New York for six weeks.

"People might think it was a holiday but I'd say he was out with professional teams, his whole approach is so professional."
