Leitrim told to avoid overnight stays

December 18, 2014

Hotel & Catering showed a big increase.

Manager Shane Ward has been told by the County Board to avoid overnight stays as Leitrim GAA tightens its belt.

Cutting costs is a priority for Leitrim GAA chiefs and treasurer Brian Gordon told Convention on Monday night that county teams are henceforth being asked to travel directly to matches and back on the same day without staying overnight:

"Hotel & Catering showed a big increase as we had an additional trip when we had to go overnight, which also entails extra meals," he is quoted in The Leitrim Observer.

"There are quite considerable costs involved with an overnight stay and if we can avoid having to travel overnight it would be a considerable help.

"We have asked Shane Ward and other county team managers if we can travel on the morning of away matches rather than on overnight stay, which could bring about quite a considerable saving."
