The North's Health Minister Jim Wells has been criticised after he referred to Joe Brolly as a "Londonderry GAA star".

Mr Wells, from the Democratic Unionist Party, made the comment on twitter after he met the 1993 Derry All-Ireland winner and RTE pundit at the launch of his Organ Donation Family Discussion Day, which will take place next Thursday.

East Derry Assembly member John Dallat of the SDLP suggested that the Minister should describe Brolly as "Legenderry" if he had a problem with using the word 'Derry'.

"It just shows how juvenile some DUP politicians are," Dallat said in the Irish News.

"Would they describe the Church of Ireland diocese of Derry and Raphoe as the diocese of Londonderry and Raphoe? The next thing they'll be insisting on calling the Apprentice Boys, the Apprentice Boys of Londonderry - or maybe Derry's walls might be the 'walls of Foyle' or something equally ridiculous."
