Cavan captain's future in doubt

November 26, 2014

Alan Clarke captained Cavan in 2013 and 2014.

There are question marks hanging over Cavan captain Alan Clarke's inter-county future.

According to the Anglo-Celt newspaper, the Kingscourt clubman, who is due to get married in January, has not reported for pre-season training.

It goes on to say that Clarke, who captained the Breffni County for the last two years, is unlikely to commit for 2015.

The news follows hot on the heels of midfielder David Givney's decision to opt out for next season while panelist Kevin Tierney is another who won't be part of Terry Hyland's plans moving forward.

Hyland and his backroom team have yet to unveil a panel but the paper reports that Barry Reilly (Kingscourt) has returned to the fold while Paul O'Connor (Cavan Gaels), Ciaran Brady (Arva) and Cootehill pair, Enda Hessin and Tom Hayes, are newcomers to the squad.
