Curran steps down as Ballymun boss

Paul Curran.

Paul Curran has ended his tenure as Ballymun Kickhams manager.

The north Dublin club confirmed in a statement this afternoon that Curran has stepped down. The 1995 All-Ireland winning wing back led Kickhams to county and Leinster SFC titles in 2012 and to an All-Ireland final in 2013, which they lost to St. Brigid's of Roscommon in heart-breaking circumstances.

Ballymun were defeated at the quarter-final stage of this year's Dublin SFC by St. Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh (0-10 to 2-12).

The Dublin and Thomas Davis great previously managed St. Mark's and Round Tower, Clondalkin before serving as a county U21 selector under current Dublin senior manager Jim Gavin.

It's understood that he was interviewed for the Offaly football manager's post last month, but the selection committee opted for local man Pat Flanagan instead.

The Ballymun Kickhams statement read: "The executive of Ballymun Kickhams would like to thank Paul Curran and his management team for all the work they have carried out over the past 4 years.

"Paul has decided not to continue on with management in 2015 and we wish him well in all his future endeavours."
