Brian McIver has insisted that the decision to bring Eoin Bradley back into the Derry fold is not a u-turn on his part.

In an interview with the Irish News, the Derry manager explained how he was able to accommodate the Glenullin man in his the new squad in light of his transfer from Coleraine to Danske Bank Premiership rivals Glenavon, where he is expected to train just one night per week.

"The big difference between this year and last year is that Eoin is now available to train with the team," McIver said.

"He was training a couple of nights a week with Coleraine last year, whereas he's only training once night a week with Glenavon.

"From Eoin's perspective, he's more than happy at getting a bit of extra training in. He knows himself that if he's going to be playing Gaelic at county level, he needs to be training two or three nights a week.

"While he's in good shape at the minute, he does appreciate the fact that he'll have to train along with the team and he's more than happy about doing that."
