Sligo referee Marty Duffy is relishing the prospect of overseeing this weekend's International Rules series between Ireland and Australia.

Duffy will become the first Sligo referee to oversee an International Rules test when he officiates at the clash in Perth this Saturday.

And the experienced referee told the Sligo Champion that he is excited by the prospect of being in charge of such a prestigious clash.

"I was a stand-by referee last year for the International Rules game. This time around I'm the main referee, it's absolutely brilliant," said Duffy.

"It is a great experience for me and something that will certainly stand in my career."
