A testimonial for 2006 All-Ireland minor winning Roscommon footballer Cian Smith, who is battling throat cancer, will take place in Abbey Park, Boyle this Saturday at 3pm.
A Boyle selection managed by former Roscommon full back David Casey will take on a Roscommon selection managed by Fergal O'Donnell, who was in charge of the minor team that beat Kerry after a replay in the 2006 All-Ireland final.
Proceeds from the game will be shared between the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice and the Kyle Casey Fund.
A host of current Roscommon senior stars are expected to line out along with the likes of Sligo's Ross Donovan, David Conway from Laois and retired Roscommon players Nigel Dineen and Shane Curran (who will also be in action for St. Brigid's against Ballintubber the following day).
Despite being diagnosed with throat cancer in 2007 which has led to him suffering from breathing problems, Cian overcame the odds to feature at centre forward for Boyle in their Roscommon IFC success last year.
