Donegal's new senior football manager is expected to be installed early next week.

A county board meeting has been scheduled for Monday night in anticipation that the committee appointed to find Jim McGuinness' replacement will have a name for ratification. The meeting is also expected to appoint managers for the U21 and minor football teams.

Former assistant manager Rory Gallagher remains firm favourite to land the senior post. The Fermanagh native was McGuinness' right-hand man when Donegal won the All-Ireland in 2012, but was cut adrift at the end of last season. This year, he was in charge of club side Kilcar.

The other three candidates in the race are Cathal Corey, Paddy Carr and Anthony Harkin.

Meanwhile, Donegal's CCC failed to reach a decision last night in relation to an appeal over the result of last Sunday's SFC semi-final between Glenswilly and Naomh Conaill.

Holders Glenswilly are due to play St. Eunan's in the Dr Maguire Cup decider at Ballybofey on Sunday, but Naomh Conaill have lodged an appeal after former inter-county referee Jimmy White gave Glenswilly's Ciaran Bonner yellow and black cards during last weekend's controversial semi-final.

His replacement, Oisin Crawford, scored a point in Glenswilly's 0-10 to 0-8 win.

Under the GAA's rules on black cards, Bonner should have been given a red card and no replacement should have been allowed.
