The process to find a replacement for Jim McGuinness will begin in Donegal tonight when the county executive meets in Ballybofey.

The names of outgoing selector Damien Diver, minor manager Declan Bonner and former assistant manager Rory Gallagher feature prominently in speculation as to who will take over the reins from the 2012 All-Ireland winning boss.

Diver's odds have fallen over the weekend. Initially installed at 7/2 on Saturday, Diver is now the 9/4 joint favourite alongside Rory Gallagher following support according to Boyle Sports.

It's 9/2 that Declan Bonner succeeds McGuinness with Martin McHugh, who declined the Donegal job in 2008, next in the betting at 5/1. Peter Canavan and Tony McEntee are next in the betting at 12/1.

"We have seen support for Damien Diver in the past 24 hours which included a €1,000 bet been laid on Diver at 7/2 in one of our shops in the Northern region," said Liam Glynn of Boyle Sports.

"Our traders are keeping Rory Gallagher on their side as the former full forward, who acted as number two to Jim McGuinness, may be the first person to get offered the job."

Tonight's scheduled meeting in Donegal will also considerable the U21 and minor managerial positions.

"We hope to conclude this by the end of October," chairman Sean Dunnion informed Highland Radio.
