Leinster club JFC: Amsterdam give good account of themselves

October 05, 2014

Amsterdam - European Champions

Amsterdam's first venture into the Leinster club JFC ended in a 1-9 to 2-18 defeat to Dublin champions Craobh Chiarain in Maastricht yesterday evening.

The visitors led by 1-10 to 0-7 at half-time and, despite Amsterdam acquitting themselves very well, they were unable to claw back the deficit in the second period.

Amsterdam's historic participation in the Leinster club JFC is due to Europe GAA being a member of the Leinster Council and as the European senior football champions, they earned the right to play in this year's provincial championship.

The lads from the Dutch capital captured their first European senior football title three weeks ago when they defeated Belgium on a 1-8 to 0-8 scoreline. They had previously won the European intermediate championship in 2011, having been formed in 2003.
