Aidan O'Shea has expressed his disappointment at the way the appointment of Mayo's new joint-managers Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes was handled.

Last Saturday's controversial appointment - which has yet to be ratified by club delegates - has led to the resignation of county board cultural officer Gerry Bourke, who labelled the process as a 'sham'.

"The players don't know anything about it (the county board controversy) to be honest," midfield colossus O'Shea revealed on 'The Last Word' on Today FM last evening.

"I know I have got a few phone calls from the lads wondering what is going on. I only know the story as well as ye guys (in the media) know it.

"I think on Saturday I got a phone call to say we had a new manager and I said 'I don't think so, I think it is going to be another couple of weeks'. Then there was a statement released to say we had a new manager. Obviously in these situations protocol and the processes should be adhered to and obviously in this case it hasn't.

"It has been washed up into the media which is disappointing. These things should be done in the right manner. It would be nice if Mayo was in the media for the right reasons and not these."
