Cork disciplinary chiefs have launched an investigation into the unsavoury scenes that marred last Saturday's fourth round SHC clash between Glen Rovers and Bishopstown.
The two clubs have been requested to appear before the Cork CCC in Pairc Ui Chaoimh tomorrow night after a mass brawl broke out and four players were given their marching orders.
County hurler Patrick Horgan (Glen Rovers) and county footballer Colm O'Driscoll (Bishopstown) were both sent off on straight red cards in the sixth minute, sparking a free-for-all involving players and substitutes from both sides. The row lasted about four minutes.
The teams both finished with 13 players after inter-county referee Cathal McAllister issued second yellow cards to Bishopstown's Mark Driscoll and Donal Cronin of Glen Rovers. Both players received their first yellow cards immediately after the brawl.
Horgan and O'Driscoll were both dismissed for helmet violations. Glen Rovers went on to win the city derby by 2-16 to 1-8, but their hopes of progressing further in the championship could be hit by suspensions and possible monetary penalties.
